Connectivity, settings, and Roblox issues

As with other Roblox error codes, error code 524 can turn up by mistake. Often this is when there are connectivity issues with the server. Most commonly with code 524, this is because the Roblox servers are down.

Option #1: See if Roblox is down

Error 524 often crops up when the Roblox website is down. Check that this isn’t why you were kicked from the game. There are lots of websites that you can check Roblox’s status on, such as downdetector.com.

Option #2: Check VIP server invitations are enabled for everyone

You should find your Privacy settings in your Roblox settings and make sure that VIP server invitations are enabled for everyone and not just for your friends. It may be that people are unable to invite you to join VIP servers.

  1. Open Roblox and go to Settings
  2. Go to Privacy
  3. Scroll down to the tick box next to Who can Invite me to a VIP Server
  4. Tick Everyone, rather than Friends and then click OK

After you have finished, close and then reopen Roblox. When you are back on the Roblox server, see if you are able to get back into any games which were previously causing errors.

Option #3: Uninstall and reinstall Roblox

If Roblox has become corrupted it may be causing a connectivity issue resulting in Roblox error code 524. You can try uninstalling it and then reinstalling the latest version.

Uninstall

  1. Logout of Roblox and close it
  2. Search for Control Panel in the Search bar
  3. Go to Programs
  4. Go to Programs and Features
  5. You’ll see a list of apps

Having a new version of Roblox may fix the error code 524.

Option #4: Use a VPN or a new server

Some users have reported that using a VPN can resolve the 524 Roblox error code. For this you will need to source a reliable provider of a VPN and then download, install and use it when you join a game.

You can also try and create a new server for a Roblox game. This will bypass the VIP settings made by other users who create Roblox games and so you won’t need an invitation to play. One method is as follows:

  1. Open Roblox
  2. Go to the Games section and choose a game
  3. Invite at least five friends
  4. Join this game and simultaneously leave the game party

This method may circumvent the Roblox invitation requirements and allow you to play without an authorization error.

Option #5: Use the UWP version of Roblox on Windows 10

If you are on Windows 10, using the Universal Windows Platform version of the game can fix Roblox error code 524.

Option #6: Restart your router and your computer

It’s worth restarting your router and your computer, to check that a minor issue with either of them is not the cause of the error code.

  1. Turn your router off at the wall and unplug it
  2. Wait for 30 seconds, plug it back in, and power it up
  3. Leave it for 5 minutes
  4. While you are doing this, you should also restart your computer

After, you have finished return to Roblox and try to rejoin the game you were playing. Hopefully, error code 524 does not return.

Option #7: Use Google Chrome as your browser

Google Chrome is usually the best browser to use for Roblox. If you aren’t using Chrome this may be the problem.

  1. Open your normal browser
  2. Type ‘google.com/chrome’ into the address bar and hit enter
  3. Click on Download Chrome
  4. Then choose Accept and Install and then click Save File

Note: You can also download Chrome from the Microsoft Store.

If you are already using Google Chrome for Roblox you should make sure that you have an up-to-date version.

  1. Open Chrome and go to More in the top right corner
  2. Click on Update Google Chrome
  3. Allow Chrome to update and then relaunch the browser

Note: If there is no Update Google Chrome option this means that you are up to date.

Option #9: Use a wired internet connection

Using a wired internet connection will ensure that you have the best connection possible.

Disable Wi-Fi on your router and run an ethernet cable from an ethernet port to your computer. This will create a wired connection.

Do this and then return to the program and see if error code 524 comes back.

Option #10: Contact Roblox to see if you’ve been banned

If none of the above fixes work, we suggest that you contact Roblox for further advice. If this is the case, then they will be able to give you Roblox authorization to return.
